Sarongs are a basic form of woven cotton garment that has equivalents and style variationts in many regions around the word.

For exapmle the Sarong is know as a Kanga, Kitenge, Kikot or Kikoy in East Africa, a Lamba in Madagascar, a Chitenje in Malawi, and a Pareo in Mauitius.

Most people use the word "Sarong", because it is the most popular term for such an item of clothing. Most sarong-like garments are made in indonesia, but the Kikoy company manufactures in Kenya using traditional methods and by employing local crafts women.
